NEW YORK, NY September 5, 2012 – In recognition of Life Insurance Awareness Month, New York Life awarded Brittney LaCombe from St. Petersburg, FL, a junior at University of South Florida, a $2,000 LIFE Lesson Scholarship for her essay illustrating the need for life insurance. Ms. LaCombe’s essay documented her family’s struggle without life insurance coverage after her mother’s death from a pulmonary embolism. September is Life Insurance Awareness Month, when the financial protection and security life insurance provides to families is promoted across the nation. Go to for more information.
