New York Life Elects William Werfelman as Senior Vice President of Public Relations
NEW YORK, N.Y., February 8, 2013 — New York Life announced today that William H. Werfelman has been elected a senior vice president of the company. Mr. Werfelman is in charge of the Public Relations Department, reporting to Executive Vice President Sheila Davidson, who is general counsel and chief legal officer.
Mr. Werfelman is responsible for media and public relations, both domestically and internationally. He joined New York Life in 1995 as a corporate vice president responsible for media relations, and was elected an executive officer by the Board of Directors in 1998. He was elected a first vice president in March 2003 and a senior vice president in July 2012. Prior to joining New York Life, he was vice president, external communications for Home Insurance Company, and before that, served in public relations and corporate communications management positions with General Electric Company and Olin Corporation. He was previously a staff writer and reporter for the Connecticut Post and was a publicist for Dictaphone Corporation.
Mr. Werfelman received a B.A. degree from St. Bonaventure University and attended graduate school at Georgetown University. He is a member of the public relations councils of the American Council of Life Insurers, the Life Insurance Council of New York, The Financial Services Roundtable and the Insured Retirement Institute. He resides in Redding, CT with his wife, Patricia. They have two children.
