New York Life Insurance Company Leads the Industry as One of America’s Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces
For the Seventh Consecutive Year Named One of the Best Workplaces
by Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
NEW YORK, September 3, 2013—New York Life has been named to the 2013 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List released by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. In addition to ranking No. 1 in its industry for the third year in a row, New York Life has now made this list for the seventh consecutive year.
New York Life’s adoption program currently offers up to $10,000 reimbursement of eligible adoption expenses as well as four weeks paid time off for the parent who is the primary caregiver and one week paid parental leave for the secondary caregiver.
“It is vital for adoptive parents to spend time with their children to bond and develop trust,” said Rita Soronen, president and CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation. “Employers who offer adoption benefits understand the initial needs of adoptive families are no different than families formed biologically. And family-friendly work environments create strong and loyal workforces.”
“We are honored to be recognized as one of America’s Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces for the seventh consecutive year and we are especially proud to lead our industry in the rankings for the third year in a row,” said Maria Mauceri, vice president, benefits, New York Life. “We are in the business of protecting the financial future of families and providing the Adoption Assistance program to our employees illustrates that what we do goes beyond our business and is a natural extension of who we are as a company. We are committed to helping new families have the resources and time they need to build lasting memories.”
Every year the Foundation announces America’s top 100 adoption-friendly employers, the top 10 by size, and the leaders in each industry from its annual survey of U.S. employers. Rankings are determined by an analysis of a company’s adoption benefits, including the maximum amount of financial reimbursement and paid leave for families who adopt. The top 100 are featured in the September issue of Employee Benefit News, a SourceMedia publication that is the leading source of information for benefits decision makers.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national nonprofit public charity dedicated exclusively to finding permanent homes for the more than 134,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems. Created by Wendy’s® founder Dave Thomas who was adopted, the Foundation implements evidence-based, results-driven national service programs, foster care adoption awareness campaigns and advocacy initiatives.
