Shorty Awards Launches New Category #KeepGoodGoing
Winners to Be Announced at Fifth Annual Awards Ceremony in April
NEW YORK, N.Y., January 3, 2013 – The Shorty Awards, in partnership with New York Life, announced today the launch of the #KeepGoodGoing Award honoring a #dad or #mom who is passionate about his or her family and uses social media to help and inspire others to do the same.
“Social media’s not just for the kids. Ever since the beginning of Twitter we’ve seen a tremendous diversity of people share stories about family, which is why we’re thrilled to partner with New York Life and shine a spotlight on the moms and dads using social media to #KeepGoodGoing,” said the Co-founder and Executive Producer of the Shorty Awards, Greg Galant.
“We are excited about this partnership because it allows us to bring attention to moms and dads who perpetuate good in what may be a small way, but has impact in a big way,” said Liz McCarthy, senior vice president and head of Corporate Communications, New York Life. “Keep Good Going describes both our purpose as a business and our relationships with our customers. Since our Keep Good Going campaign launched in September of 2012, people not only understand and relate to what we’re trying to say — they also immediately begin to share their own life lessons. We hope that this Shorty Award category is an extension of that sharing.”
Beginning on January 7th, the public can go to ShortyAwards.com to nominate a #mom or #dad whose lessons have helped to keep a family or others going by sharing their stories or tips via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, or through other social media platforms. To nominate a #mom or #dad, go to ShortyAwards.com and complete the statement “I nominate @User for a Shorty Award in #KeepGoodGoing because...” with a reason why and tweet the vote. If the vote is eligible, it will show up on a real-time leader board on the site.
The #KeepGoodGoing Shorty Award winner will be selected based on the total number of nominations received, the impact and creativity of the nominee’s tweets, and innovation in the use of social media as determined by a soon-to-be-announced jury on the Real-Time Academy of Shorty Form Arts & Science. The Academy’s current members include Steve Wozniak, Nick Cannon, Alyssa Milano and others. Eligibility is limited to parents who actively share good with others. The winner will be announced on April 8, 2013 at the fifth Annual Shorty Awards ceremony in New York City.
