 Our Diversity

"New York Life could not have achieved the success we enjoy today were it not for our richly diverse corporate culture. Rather than expect employees and agents to adapt themselves to a single way of doing business, everyone is encouraged to bring their own cultural and intellectual perspectives to the table. Nor do we pursue a one-size-fits-all approach in the marketplace; our culturally sensitive outreach to customers has established New York Life as “the company of the community” in neighborhoods that reflect the changing face of America. Little wonder that we consider our commitment to diversity to be a fundamental strategic strength." — Ted Mathas, Chairman, President and CEO of New York Life Insurance Company

“New York Life is committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all employees. Diversity is good for business and drives profits. And diverse teams foster high levels of creativity and innovation." — Katherine O'Brien, Chief Diversity Officer

“I wanted to work for a company with a lot of diversity, a company that respects its employees. New York Life was the best choice I could have made for myself." — Sandeep, joined New York Life in 2006

New York Life is committed to ensuring fair and consistent consideration and treatment of all the people we do business with: potential clients and long-term customers … inquiring job seekers and long-time employees … prospective contractors and established vendors.

We believe that people’s differences are their greatest attributes. We recruit from the communities we serve. And we recognize that employees’ unique qualities — the ability to be different — is what leads to innovation, positive change, and a more productive and dynamic workplace.

Our Employee Network Groups and Cultural Markets initiatives are among the many ways we express our commitment to diversity.

For the second year in a row, New York Life Insurance Company has been named to BusinessWeek's annual “The Best Places to Launch a Career" list. New York Life is ranked #28 out of 119 companies.
