Life Insurance Educational Campaign Includes Seminars, Advertising, Promotional Quiz

NEW YORK, N.Y., September 17, 2002 — New York Life Insurance Company announced today that the company is launching its national educational campaign for Chinese-American consumers featuring life insurance workshops, new advertisements in Chinese-American media outlets and promotional quizzes.

"New York Life is pleased to launch a special educational program to deepen the Chinese-American community's knowledge of life insurance concepts," says Phil Hildebrand, executive vice president in the Agency Department. "We are continually developing new resources tailored to address the needs, values and customs of this important market."

Sally Mak, corporate vice president in the Cultural Marketing Division at New York Life, says, "We are excited to share a whole series of in-language materials specially tailored to the Chinese-American community to assist families in achieving their life insurance planning goals. Consumers will benefit from this comprehensive information."

The campaign launch begins with press conferences in San Francisco, Calif., on September 17; Los Angeles, Calif., on September 19; and Chinatown in New York, N.Y., on September 27. Mak will speak at these press conferences and will be joined by company executives to explain the features of this promotion. This coincides with a newly launched Chinese-American advertising campaign, promoting these educational events, and quizzes for customers. Throughout the coming months, New York Life agents and an advanced planning consultant will address a variety of timely and valuable topics such as business insurance and estate planning, annuities and life insurance. New York Life is one of the leaders in market share among life insurers serving the Chinese-American community.
