Volunteers for LIFE develops and promotes volunteer opportunities for New York Life Insurance Company's agents, employees and retirees so that they may contribute their time and expertise to help meet community needs and to recognize and encourage their ongoing involvement with nonprofit organizations. Our goal is to ensure that our people enjoy meaningful, convenient and rewarding volunteer experiences and that the beneficiaries of their time and commitment are well served.

New York Life Insurance Company has always believed strongly in the value of community service. In 1998, the Company formalized its commitment to community service and created Volunteers for LIFE. In the initial phase of the program, a number of projects were piloted in New York City. Since then, the program has expanded to New York Life offices across the country including Atlanta, Cleveland, Clinton (N.J.), Dallas, Minneapolis, Tampa and Westchester County (N.Y.).

The Company's community service activities center on programs benefiting children, specifically in the areas of mentoring, safe places to learn and grow, and educational enhancement programs. This focus, entitled Nurturing the Children, is closely aligned to the New York Life Foundation's funding priorities. By linking the Company's volunteerism with the Foundation's grant-making activities, we hope to make the greatest impact possible in these areas.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers for LIFE offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, including ongoing programs, one-time events, collections/drives and special events. Our community service projects represent a range of commitment levels so that everyone has an opportunity to participate. Opportunities exist for individuals or teams, once a year, once a month or even weekly. Volunteers may take on leadership roles by becoming Team Leaders, helping to organize and lead groups of New York Life volunteers on a project.

Volunteer Database
The Company facilitates participation by offering a convenient and easy-to-use volunteer project database. Employees quickly and easily access information on upcoming community service projects through the Company's Intranet system. Employees can surf the database, select a project and register electronically. They can even view information on past projects and photographs of their colleagues enjoying their experiences.
