New York Life Launches Web Site for African-American Consumers

NEW YORK, March 11, 2004 — New York Life Insurance Company today unveiled an educational online resource for African–American consumers (www.newyorklife.com/africanamerican). The Web site is intended to increase awareness and understanding of the protection and wealth building aspects of life insurance, annuities and the company?s array of financial products. Centered on education, the site will be updated regularly with articles targeted toward individuals, families and business owners.

In addition to offering comprehensive details on insurance and financial planning, the site contains information on the company's commitment to diversity, supplier diversity program, diversity–themed messages in its current advertising campaign, job postings, and various award recognitions for being an outstanding employer in the African–American community. The site also provides educational content ranging from details on the company's partnership with the 1000 Churches Connected program, where it is conducting educational seminars for church congregations, to the descriptions and Internet links of the PBS documentaries on African–American history that New York Life has underwritten. Finally, it contains information on company participation in industry events.

"We are proud to offer an educational resource that will help African–American families take important steps to help provide for their loved ones and create generational wealth," said Eugene Mitchell, assistant vice president, African–American Market Unit. "We are excited to provide content that explains the benefits of working with a New York Life agent to help individuals safeguard their financial future."
