Company Applauded for Its Commitment to Nurturing and Retaining A Diverse Group of Employees

NEW YORK, September 21, 2004 — For the fifth year in a row, New York Life Insurance Company has been named one of Working Mother's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers." The publication recognized New York Life as one of the top companies and praised the leading mutual life insurance company for its menu of programs designed to help all employees achieve a healthy work/life balance.

• The Employees' Health Department, a fully-equipped, on-site medical facility with four full-time doctors and five registered nurses as well as a functioning emergency room;
• The New Mother's Center, a comfortable space for new mothers who continue to breast feed after returning to work following maternity leave, and;
• An Elder Care Tool Kit for the "working caretaker," which includes topics such as advance directives, power of attorney, financial and banking concerns, as well as legal and estate information. The company also offers employees private sessions with a Geriatric Care Manager to discuss individual situations and needs.
