NEW YORK, December 6, 2004 — New York Life Insurance Company today unveiled a new online resource, www.newyorklife.educationplanner.com, a one-stop guide to assist families when planning for higher education. The New York Life Education Planner contains vital information, including a link to the Upromise Web site, which advises consumers on how to help fund the education through a Upromise savings account and other vehicles.

The New York Life Education Planner provides a link to the Upromise Website which contains information about how to save money using Upromise, a free service that helps families get money back for college from America's leading companies. Each time Upromise members purchase participating life insurance and variable annuity products, New York Life and its affiliates contribute an amount to their Upromise savings account , enabling families to create an additional benefit for their college savings plan. New York Life and its affiliates are the exclusive life insurance and variable annuity providers in the Upromise network of companies.
The New York Life Education Planner includes a career assessment, school search tools, college match quizzes, tips on applications and essay writing, a tutorial on financial aid packages, and calculators to help consumers determine what they can afford. Additionally, it features a customizable toolbox of online resources called "my planner" that visitors can save and use for future reference. National financial aid organization American Education Services (AES) sponsors the Planner and worked closely with New York Life to make the Planner available on New York Life's Website.
