New York Life Recognizes PASE Interns

The New York Life Foundation held a reception to recognize the second year of a three-year commitment to support the Partnership for After School Education's (PASE) 'summer learning gap' initiative for New York City public school students. In 2004, the Foundation granted PASE a three-year grant of over $580,000 to train interns, offer specialized staff training and technical assistance to 70 nonprofit agencies that work with students to maintain their education level during the summer months. The reception was attended by twenty-one interns who work within these nonprofits to integrate learning activities into the agencies' summer programming.

Pictured with the interns centered in the front row are: (left to right) Alison Overseth, PASE’s board president; Sy Sternberg, chairman and chief executive office of New York Life Insurance Company and chairman of the New York Life Foundation; Janet Kelley, executive director of PASE; and Peter Bushyeager, president of the New York Life Foundation.
