NEW YORK, N.Y. January 30, 2006 — New York Life Insurance Company announced today that Stephen G. Ray has been named senior vice president of the West Central Agencies. In this capacity, Mr. Ray oversees the recruiting, training and developing of managing partners and partners. He is responsible for the sales production and overall supervision of the offices within the West Central Zone, which include 31 general offices in the Midwestern United States.
Mr. Ray joined New York Life as an agent in Austin, Texas in 1972, and was promoted to general manager of the Crescent City office in New Orleans in 1981. He also served as general manager for the Lone Star office in Dallas in 1983 and the Ft. Worth office in 1989. Mr. Ray was promoted to the position of agency vice president of the Western Zone in 1993, and to senior vice president in the home office in 1996, a position he held until 1999. He was then promoted to senior vice president of the Pacific Zone, which earned the company's Zone Award of Excellence in 2003 under his leadership.
Mr. Ray holds a B.B.A. from the University of Texas and a C.L.U. from the American College. Mr. Ray and his wife Brenda reside in Dallas, Texas and have three children.
