Julius G. Alberico and Michael P. Lackey Strengthen Support of New York Life's Agent System

NEW YORK, N.Y., June 8, 2006 — New York Life Insurance Company announced that Julius G. Alberico has joined the company as first vice president in charge of Life & Annuity Marketing in the Agency Department, reporting to Senior Vice President Mark Pfaff. In addition, Michael P. Lackey has joined the company as vice president in the Agency Department, reporting to Mr. Alberico.

Mr. Alberico is responsible for product sales and marketing strategy, and support for the company's core lines of business — life insurance, guaranteed lifetime income insurance and investment annuities. He is also responsible for overseeing services to the Middle Market sector. Mr. Alberico re–joins New York Life from Humana Health Plans of Illinois, where he served as regional chief executive officer. Prior to his tenure at Humana, Mr. Alberico worked at New York Life in a variety of roles. He joined the company in 1991 as group field vice president and became senior vice president in 1993. In 1999, Mr. Alberico was named senior partner of the Greater Chicago General Office — a position he held until 2002. Before joining New York Life, he spent 19 years at Mutual of New York.

Mr. Alberico graduated from Wabash College with a bachelor's degree. He and his wife Pamela reside in Norwalk, Connecticut. They have four children.

Mr. Lackey is responsible for development, implementation and management of the company's Middle Market initiative, which focuses on households with incomes between $35,000 and $100,000. Previously, Mr. Lackey worked as an agent and sales manager for Mutual of New York, and he was a managing partner at Metropolitan Life for four years. For the past two years, he worked as a consultant at a Big 5 consulting firm, with assignments that included leading a Middle Market initiative for another major financial services company. Mr. Lackey also served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army.

Mr. Lackey earned a bachelor's of science degree from Georgetown University and a master's degree from Columbia University Business School. He resides in West Windsor, New Jersey, with his wife and daughter.
