NEW YORK, N.Y., March 1, 2007 – New York Life Insurance Company announced today that Russell Bundschuh has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of New York Life International, effective immediately. Mr. Bundschuh will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of New York Life International, Joseph Gilmour.
In this new role, Mr. Bundschuh will be responsible for managing several of New York Life International’s core functional areas, including the compliance, legal, administration, human resources and business development/planning areas. His responsibilities will include continuation of ongoing efforts to implement global best practices.
Mr. Bundschuh joined New York Life in 2004 as first vice president of corporate development and was responsible for mergers and acquisitions and strategic planning. He also acted as chief of staff for Chief Financial Officer Michael Sproule.
Prior to joining New York Life, Mr. Bundschuh spent 10 years with McKinsey & Company, a leading management consulting firm, where he had been a partner since 2000. Prior to McKinsey, he spent five years with IBM in their U.S. marketing and sales division, where he acted as lead member for large-systems technical sales on a major insurance account team.
Mr. Bundschuh received bachelor’s degrees in both Electrical and Geophysical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. He received a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He currently resides in Mendham, New Jersey with his wife, Joan, and their three children.
