 New York Life Announces Executive Appointments In Corporate Finance Department
 
 
 

NEW YORK, N.Y., AUGUST 27, 2007 – New York Life Insurance Company announced today that Steven D. Lash has re-joined New York Life as senior vice president in the Corporate Finance Department. Mr. Lash reports to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Michael Sproule. The company also announced that Richard J. Witterschein has been promoted to first vice president and treasurer, reporting to Mr. Lash.

Mr. Lash is responsible for managing several of New York Life’s core financial functions including the actuarial, tax and treasury departments as well as all facets of corporate development, which include strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and investor relations/rating agency relationships.

Mr. Lash most recently served as Principal within the Insurance and Actuarial Advisory Services (IAAS) division at Ernst & Young. Prior to Ernst & Young, he spent five years with Chase Manhattan Bank as vice president, Insurance Corporate Finance. Mr. Lash began his career with New York Life in 1987 as an actuarial assistant.

Mr. Lash earned a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA). He currently resides in Demarest, N.J. with his wife, Ally, and their children.

Mr. Witterschein is responsible for the overall management of the Treasury Department, which includes cash and liquidity management and bank relations. Mr. Witterschein joined New York Life in 1996 as a director in the Treasury Department. He was promoted to assistant vice president in 1997, corporate vice president in 2000 and to vice president in 2006. Prior to New York Life, he held senior treasury and cash management positions at Automatic Data Processing and Nextel.

Mr. Witterschein earned a bachelor’s degree from Trenton State College and a master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He currently resides in Fair Haven, N.J. with his wife, Elizabeth, and their children.
