    OTHER SUPPORT PROGRAMS

    Educational Matching Gift Program

To promote and encourage individual giving, the Foundation matches gifts made by eligible New York Life employees, agents and retirees to qualified elementary, secondary and higher educational institutions. Last year, 463 educational institutions received over $420,000 through this program.

    Local Volunteer Action Program (LVAP)

In recognition of the ongoing involvement of New York Life employees, agents and retirees in community-based nonprofit organizations, the Foundation makes grants to local grassroots agencies with which they volunteer their time. LVAP provides a mechanism for outreach to programs that otherwise would not be eligible for Foundation support. Grants are unrestricted, for general operating purposes.

    Team Grant

In recognition of team volunteer service that New York Life employees, agents and retirees give on behalf of nonprofit charitable organizations, the Foundation makes grants to local grassroots agencies with which they volunteer their time. Grants are aimed at recognizing short- and long-term projects such as walk-a-thons, park beautification, soup kitchen programs and the like.

    Competitive Grants Program

To encourage leadership roles among New York Life employees, agents and retirees within their communities and with organizations where they volunteer, the Foundation, as part of its Nurturing the Children focus, annually awards grants of $5,000 each to up to 40 of the most compelling children-related projects submitted by eligible individuals. An advisory committee of employees, agents and retirees reviews the project applications and makes funding recommendations.

New York Life Family Scholars Program

The Foundation offers two different scholarship opportunities to the children of eligible employees and agents. National Merit Scholarships are awarded to exeptionally high achieving, high school seniors who qualify as National Merit Finalists. Citizen's Scholarship Foundation of America Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors resulting from evaluation of their academic achievements, school and community activities, and financial need.

    United Ways

Grants to United Ways represent the Foundation's principal support for local health and human services agencies. The Foundation makes annual grants to local United Ways in cities where New York Life offices are located. The Foundation does not support individual member agencies of these United Ways, or endowment programs, capital and emergency campaigns sponsored by member agencies, or by the United Way itself.
