Fortune magazine’s list of World's Most Admired Companies is the definitive report card on corporate reputation. For 2012, New York Life ranked as the most admired mutual life insurer in the world and third overall in the Life and Health Insurance sector — factoring in nine key attributes of reputation - people management; use of corporate assets; financial soundness; quality of management; quality of products/services; innovation; social responsibility; long-term investment; and global competitiveness. A total of 698 companies from 32 countries were surveyed. Fifteen companies are ranked in the Life and Health sector, with New York Life ranked first in four of the nine attributes, including quality of management, financial soundness, people management and use of corporate assets.

New York Life ranks #86 on the prestigious Fortune 500 list. Each year, Fortune magazine collects revenue data from the largest companies in the Unites States and publishes the rankings. The published list is considered a "who's who" of corporate America. New York Life has a stronger position on the Fortune 500 list than other powerful brands including TIAA-CREF (88), News Corp. (91), Allstate (93), American Express (95), Tyson Foods (96), McDonald’s (107), Nike (136) and Kellogg (205).
With 2011 revenue of more than $34 billion, according to Fortune's proprietary formula, New York Life once again retained its title as the largest mutual life insurance company in the United States.
WORKING MOTHER BEST COMPANIES FOR MULTICULTURAL WOMEN 2012New York Life has been named a Best Company for Multicultural Women by Working Mother magazine. The magazine honors 25 companies that promote the interests of women of color in corporate America. New York Life was recognized for hiring, retaining and advancing multicultural women. To be considered for Best Companies for Multicultural Women, each company supplied Working Mother with 2011 data about the hiring, pay and promotion of multicultural employees.
WORKING MOTHER 100 BEST COMPANIES 2011
New York Life Insurance Company was selected for the 2011 Working Mother 100 Best Companies based on an extensive application with more than 650 questions. The application included detailed questions about workforce, compensation, child care, flexibility programs, leave policies and more. It also checked the usage, availability and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them. Seven areas were measured and scored: workforce profile; benefits; women’s issues and advancement; child care; flexible work; paid time off and leaves; and company culture. An essay regarding best practices to support working mothers is also evaluated. For this year’s 100 Best, particular weight was given to flexibility and parental leave.
New York Life was named to Training magazine's "Training Top 125" ranking for 2012, a ranking of a company's excellence in employer sponsored training and development programs. New York Life was recognized as a company that shows great commitment to employee development. Now in its 12th year, the Training Top 125 ranking is based on statistics including total training budget; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, measurement, and workplace surveys; hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs.
For the twelfth year in a row, New York Life was named one of the "50 Best Companies for Latinas to Work For" in the United States for 2012 by LATINA Style Magazine. New York Life was recognized based on the number of Latina executives, Latina retention, educational opportunities, mentoring programs, Latina board members, educational opportunities, alternative work policies, dependent/child care support, employee benefits, women’s issues, job retraining, affinity groups, military recruitment programs and Hispanic relations. This annual survey serves as the most respected evaluation of corporate America’s career advancement opportunities for Latinas.
New York Life has earned Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 2013 Diversity Leader Award. The Company was given this honor for serving as a beacon to others in the area of Diversity and Inclusion. The award recognizes 66 companies for the internal and external communications channels used to efficiently and effectively communicate with their employees, customers, partners and the public.
For the fifth year, New York Life has been named by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) to the Top 50 Companies for Executive Women list. New York Life was named one of the "Top 50 Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities for 2012" by DiversityBusiness.com, the nation's leading multicultural B2B online Website. New York Life was recognized as a company that differentiates itself in the marketplace for diversity. More than 1,200,000 businesses with diverse owners had the opportunity to participate in an online election to determine the "Top" organizations, collectively called The Div50, basing their selection on volume, consistency and quality business opportunities granted to women and minority-owned companies.
New York Life was named to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption's 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List for 2011. In addition to ranking number 1 in its industry, the company tied for the 26 position on the overall list. Rankings are determined by an analysis of a company’s adoption benefits available to employees who adopt, such as financial reimbursement and paid leave.
New York Life Insurance Company has been named to Ward's 50 Top Performing Insurance Companies for 2012. This list ranks top performing life-health companies based on the Ward Group annual analysis of the insurance industry. New York Life was recognized for having achieved superior performance over the five years analyzed (2007-2011). Ward Group is a consulting firm that produces a financial analysis based on publicly available data of over 800 life-health insurance companies and has been conducted since 1991.
New York Life was named to Profiles in Diversity Journal's International Innovations in Diversity Awards list for 2012. The Company was honored for having developed an innovative solution which delivered a positive outcome forwarding inclusiveness and improved equity in the workplace.
