Life Insurance Seminars in Five Cities To Boost Financial Literacy, Economic Independence
CHICAGO, IL, July 22, 2002 The Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Founder and President of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition and the One Thousand Churches Connected Program and Sy Sternberg, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of New York Life Insurance Company will today announce a partnership that will provide financial education seminars to thousands of families across the country through community churches. The partnership will enable select agents from New York Life's elite sales force to provide education about life insurance and other financial products to underserved communities in five key cities including Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Newark, NJ and Queens, NY. This announcement was made at a kick-off celebration during the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition and Citizenship Education Fund Annual Conference.
"The One Thousand Churches Connected project aims to help churches bring the vital message of economic literacy and sound financial planning to their communities from the pulpit," said Rev. Jackson. "We are helping to realize economic potential of our community, and we are proud to join with New York Life in this important endeavor. We firmly believe that this partnership will provide a positive example of 'win-win' cooperation between underserved communities and the leaders of the financial services industry."

Highly trained New York Life agents will conduct seminars at community churches on such critical topics as life insurance, annuities, long-term care insurance and college savings plans, and will provide tips that will enable attendees to take control of their financial well-being.
