SALT LAKE CITY, UT, September 30, 2010 - New York Life Insurance Company today announced the launch of a sponsorship that includes a $10,000 scholarship competition between the University of Utah and Brigham Young University (BYU). The school whose football team completes the most offensive yards during the regular season will receive a $10,000 check for their general scholarship fund.
"The competition for the scholarship builds on this exciting rivalry, and the end result is that a student can tackle his or her academic career with the help of New York Life," said William C. Gallagher, managing partner, Utah General Office, New York Life. "New York Life is proud to be a part of this competition, drawing attention to positive forward progress where offensive yards give way to assisting a student with success in life."
The scholarship will be presented live on MountainWest Sports Network during the half-time of the BYU vs. University of Utah game on November 27.
In conjunction with the scholarship, the sponsorship also includes "New York Life Double Coverage," an exciting new video graphic feature, for the entire season. Four times during each BYU and University of Utah game, the screen will split, and the viewer will see a shot of the field on one side and a feed of a specific player on the other. The announcer will say, "This is 'New York Life Double Coverage,' New York Life Insurance Company can help you cover your basic expenses in retirement. To learn more, contact a New York Life agent."
