NEW YORK, November 23, 2010 – New York Life Insurance Company announced today that John Fleurant has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Finance, and Controller. He reports to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Michael Sproule.
Mr. Fleurant is responsible for overseeing the Controller’s, Tax, and Treasury departments. In addition he will be responsible for financial planning, accounting policy, and rating agency relationships.
Prior to joining New York Life, Mr. Fleurant served as controller at Prudential Financial. Since joining Prudential in 1995, he held positions of increasing responsibility, including chief financial officer for domestic businesses. Before that, he was a senior manager for Deloitte & Touche, where he spent nine years.
Mr. Fleurant holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Widener University and is a certified public accountant. He resides in Martinsville, New Jersey with his wife, Margie, and their three children.
Mr. Fleurant replaces John Cullen, who will be retiring in March after 40 years with New York Life. Mr. Cullen has been Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer since 2002. He will be joining Mr. Sproule in an Office of the CFO where he will be assisting in the transition to Mr. Fleurant.
