Company's Eighth Annual Networking and Training Seminar for Agents Serving the Chinese Market
NEW YORK, July 20, 2004 — New York Life Insurance Company announced today that it is holding its eighth annual conference for New York Life agents who serve the Chinese market. This year's national conference is being held in Toronto, Ontario on July 22–24, 2004 and its purpose is to provide in–language instruction and support to its agents working with the Chinese–American community. Conference events will include training workshops, networking opportunities and a keynote address by Ted Mathas, executive vice president and co–head of New York Life's Life and Annuity operations.
"Our Chinese Marketing Unit has achieved outstanding results over the past several years and continues to grow," said Paul B. Morris, senior vice president in charge of the Agency Department. "This proves that our investment in recruiting and developing Chinese agents is both the right thing to do and an effective business strategy."

Topics for the training sessions will include individual life and annuities, long–term care, business ethics, and various sales techniques. Additionally, an award ceremony will recognize agents who have achieved superior sales results.
The Chinese Marketing Unit achieved a 16 percent increase in sales growth in 2003 as well as double–digit growth for the fifth consecutive year. This division is dedicated to supporting Chinese agents and field managers, increasing sales, and boosting recruiting.
