The athletes may be young, but the Little League Baseball® World Series is a larger-than-life event particularly for the players, their families and fans watching the games live and on television.
As the official life insurance sponsor of Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball™, New York Life has a presence at more than 200 leagues across the nation, the just-concluded regional tournaments, and the current Little League Baseball® World Series. At many of the games, including the World Series, New York Life sponsors a Child ID program, providing parents with a free identification card for each of their children.
Worldwide, Little League® Baseball and Softball is the largest organized youth sports program in the world with millions of children participating yearly.
More than a few major leaguers, including New York Mets’ star Jason Bay and recently retired Boston Red Sox Jason Varitek played in it as youngsters. Check out some of the games to see if you can spot any major league potential.
Here are the 16 teams. Keep in mind in the final round, one team will represent the U.S. and one International team.
