Insurance Industry Veteran to Head Washington D.C. Office
NEW YORK, N.Y., January 11, 2005 — New York Life Insurance Company today announced that William Mattox has joined the company as first vice president in charge of New York Life's Washington, D.C. office. He will be responsible for developing substantive, strategic policy positions for the company. Mr. Mattox will also serve as a key contact with Capitol Hill, the Administration, major associations, primarily the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) and other public policy organizations. He reports to Senior Vice President Jessie Colgate, who heads the company's Office of Governmental Affairs.
Mr. Mattox joins New York Life after spending fifteen years with Mutual of Omaha. He served as Executive Vice President, Governmental Affairs and was responsible for all state and federal government relations and issues management. Prior to Mutual of Omaha, Mr. Mattox gained valuable legislative insurance experience by serving as Vice President and Director of Federal Relations for The Equitable from 1979 to 1990. Mr. Mattox earned his bachelor's and master's degree's in political science at Mississippi State University.
