New York Life Elects Steven A. Rautenberg As Senior Vice President

Veteran Industry Executive to Lead Corporate Communications Department

NEW YORK, N.Y., February 8, 2006 — New York Life Insurance Company announced today that Steven A. Rautenberg has joined the company as senior vice president in charge of the Corporate Communications Department. He reports to Sheila Davidson, executive vice president in charge of Law & Corporate Administration.

Mr. Rautenberg is responsible for advertising, media and public relations, employee communications and editorial services, the company's television production studio, and the New York Life Foundation and corporate responsibility activities.

Mr. Rautenberg previously served as a vice president at American International Group where he was responsible for all communications including advertising, public relations, marketing services, sponsorships and events. He also has served in a senior communications position with Chase Manhattan, and previously served in communications capacities for Citibank and Members of Congress.

A Chicago native, Mr. Rautenberg holds a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University. He resides in New York with his wife and their daughter.
