NEW YORK, N.Y., March 6, 2006 — New York Life International, the international arm of New York Life Insurance Company, announced today that John Harrison has joined the company as chief executive officer — Asia Region. Mr. Harrison reports to Joseph Gilmour, president and chief executive officer, New York Life International.
"John brings a tremendous amount of work experience and insight to New York Life International. His international experience in life insurance in many of the same emerging markets where we operate gives him the industry knowledge and management expertise to successfully run the Asia Region for New York Life International," said Mr. Gilmour. "John will work closely with regional heads to leverage growth in all our international markets."
Mr. Harrison has over 30 years of experience in the life insurance industry and joins New York Life International from Manulife, where he spent the last four years as CEO of their Indonesia subsidiary. In that role he had responsibility for the management and development of Manulife's operation in Indonesia, which included various acquisitions that enhanced business growth. Mr. Harrison's career also included roles as vice president in Hong Kong for Manulife, and prior to that, senior managerial positions with Canada Life, Crown Life Insurance Company and AIG. He has overseen many areas of life insurance operations, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic development, reinsurance, product pricing and product management.

Mr. Harrison is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Ontario. He and his wife Linda have three children. Mr. Harrison will relocate to Hong Kong.
