Jessie Patel

Agent, Orange Coast General Office
B.A., Marketing and Management, Chapman University, Orange, CA

As a New York Life Agent “I love having complete control over my day¬to¬day activities and the direction of my career.” My love for this career is built on two distinct factors: the challenge of selling life insurance and the opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Many times you will be faced with rejection, but if you push through it, you will come out a much stronger individual. With integrity, passion and a drive to succeed, you can accomplish anything in this industry.

Why she became a New York Life College Agent

My dad’s a New York Life agent and has been in the business for 28 years. I was interested in joining the Company, and he suggested I become a College Agent to get a feel for what it’s like to be an agent. I took his advice and he became my mentor.

Christy Barilotti

Agent, Constitution, PA General Office
Financial Advisor, Eagle Strategies LLC*
B.S., Biology and Economics, Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA

Why she became a New York Life College Agent

I learned about New York Life’s College Agent Intern Program through the career services center at my college, Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. As a biology major, I was looking for a sales internship to gain experience for a pharmaceutical sales job. The College Agent Intern Program seemed to be a perfect fit.

Once I became a College Agent and started building my own business, my plans quickly changed. I was no longer interested in pharmaceutical sales. I wanted a career as a New York Life agent.

Agent, San Fernando Valley General Office
B.S., Business, California State University Northridge, Northridge CA

Why she became a New York Life College Agent

I always assumed I would eventually take over the management of my mom’s skin care salon as my career. I knew I wanted to run my own business, so it seemed only natural that I would follow in my mom’s footsteps. That was my plan—until I learned about New York Life’s College Agent Intern Program. At the time I was looking for an internship that would allow me to earn credits toward graduation and get my feet wet in the business world, and the Program seemed to fit the bill.

Yerania Espindola

Agent, Eastern Washington
General Office
Senior at Heritage University, Toppenwish, WA

Why she became a New York Life College Agent

“I was my first client!” . I have seen countless Latino families left penniless when the primary breadwinner dies. I myself had never been approached about life insurance and immediately saw that a career with New York Life could provide an opportunity to educate my people about the importance of setting financial goals and planning for the unexpected.

*Christy and Ali are also a Financial Advisers with Eagle Strategies LLC., a Registered Investment Adviser. Eagle Strategies LLC. is an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of New York Life Insurance Company.
