In 2003, New York Life created an African American Market Unit with a staff dedicated to fulfilling the goals of enhancing African American agent recruiting, production, retention and promotion, and strengthening the Company’s ties to the African American community.

With this focus, we have built one of the largest African American sales forces in the life insurance industry, and our agent support and development has grown to incorporate many important areas. These areas include lead generation, providing culturally relevant material, mentoring, forming of study groups, and hosting of workshops and conferences that build camaraderie, share best practices, prepare personal business development plans and enhance networking.

Working together as a team within New York Life's Cultural Marketing Division (which includes- Asian Indian, Chinese, Hispanic, Korean and Vietnamese Market Units), we are driven by a passion to bring financial products, services and wealth education to our community that will protect and provide for families over generations to come. It was with this team spirit that we created the following mission, vision and purpose for the African American Market Unit:
