NEW YORK, N.Y., DECEMBER 11, 2007 – New York Life Insurance Company announced today that Vikram Sawhney has joined New York Life International (NYLI) as Senior Vice President, Business Development reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Russell Bundschuh.
Mr. Sawhney is responsible for all aspects of NYLI’s business development activities, including overseeing strategic projects, partnership development, and mergers and acquisitions for NYLI’s markets in Argentina, China, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
Prior to joining NYLI, Mr. Sawhney spent nearly eight years with General Electric in various leadership positions in the United States and in Asia. Most recently, he served as Country Head-Business Development for GE India, helping accelerate growth opportunities for GE’s infrastructure, industrial, healthcare, and financial services businesses in India. Prior to General Electric, Mr. Sawhney served as a management consultant with A.T. Kearney, where he advised financial institutions in the United States, Canada, and Brazil on organizational effectiveness, strategic sourcing, and operational improvement engagements. Earlier, he spent three years serving investment banking clients with Bankers Trust/Deutsche Bank.
Mr. Sawhney holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business, and a BA degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. He resides in New York City with his wife and two sons.
