New York Life International Names Michael Burson Senior Vice President of Agency for Asia Region

Anne Weedon and Karen McIntosh also Named to New Posts in Asia

HONG KONG SAR, June 6, 2008 – New York Life International, LLC (NYLI), the international arm of New York Life Insurance Company, announced today that Michael Burson has been named senior vice president of its Agency system in Asia. Mr. Burson was serving as first vice president of New York Life’s Agency in the United States.

“Mike’s deep understanding of New York Life’s Agency system, along with his extensive experience recruiting and developing top agency talent, will be valuable as we continue to develop the Company’s Agency distribution capability in China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand,” said Eric Campbell, executive vice president and chief distribution officer of NYLI.

In his new role, Mr. Burson will be responsible for expanding New York Life’s Agency in Asia with a focus on recruiting and developing Agency leaders in the region. Mr. Burson is relocating to Hong Kong and will report to Mr. Campbell.

Mr. Burson brings more than 30 years of Agency experience to his new position. After joining New York Life as an agent in the Austin Office in 1976, he entered field management in 1979, serving as a recruiter for nine years and a trainer for six years. He also served as a marketing consultant for the West Central Zone for two years before coming to the Home Office in 1997 to head up Recruiting & Retention. Over the past ten years, Mr. Burson has steadily added to his responsibilities currently overseeing Management Development, Cultural Markets, Women’s Market, Field Advisory Groups, and Succession Planning, in addition to Recruiting & Retention. Mr. Burson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and is a CLU (Certified Life Underwriter) and a ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant).

New York Life International also announced two other appointments in Asia. Anne Weedon, who was serving as associate vice president and head of wealth management in the Company’s Asia region, has been promoted to vice president, multichannel distribution – Asia region, and Karen McIntosh, who was an independent consultant supporting the company’s regional products initiative in Asia, has been named vice president, product center of excellence – Asia region.

William Beaty, vice chairman of New York Life International, said, “These appointments are all part of our exciting new initiative designed to build upon our global leadership in career agency, strengthen our other distribution channels, and take our global product platform to the next level.”

Ms. Weedon will be responsible for leading NYLI’s efforts in strengthening New York Life’s multi channel distribution in Asia. On the product front, Ms. McIntosh will help New York Life build upon its global product strategy and will lead its new Product Center of Excellence, a new initiative that will help guide and support product design, development and management in the company’s international markets. Weedon and McIntosh will continue to be based in Hong Kong and will report to Mr. Beaty.

Prior to joining New York Life, Ms. Weedon was chief operating officer and assistant vice president at Manulife Asset Management, Hong Kong, among other roles. An industry veteran with more than 20 years in the life insurance industry, Ms. Weedon has worked in both Asia and North America in a variety of positions, including director of marketing, responsible for a flagship pension line; managing and leading the product design and marketing strategy for a company’s entry into the Mandatory Provident Fund market as well as having been assistant vice president of regional alternative distribution in Asia. Ms. Weedon holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toronto.

Before joining New York Life, Ms. McIntosh was vice president, marketing & product management for Sun Life in Hong Kong, and subsequently provided life insurance consulting services in Asia. She brings a wealth of product and operational knowledge to New York Life International having held key roles in insurance organizations in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Indonesia. Ms. McIntosh is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (F.S.A) and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (F.I.A.A).
