New York Life Agent Kathy Davenport Elected President Of Company’s National Agents Advisory Council

Local Agent is Named First Woman President

NEW ORLEANS, February 11, 2009 – New York Life Insurance Company today announced that Kathy Davenport has been elected president of the company’s Agents Advisory Council (AAC), the group of New York Life agents that present agent viewpoints and issues to the company’s executive management. Mrs. Davenport is serving as President for the term, which began January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2009.

Mrs. Davenport, a New York Life agent serving families in the New Orleans area for more than 20 years, is the first woman president of the AAC. The AAC meets twice yearly to discuss issues of concern to agents with New York Life’s Chairman and senior executives. This open dialogue between elected agents who make up the AAC and New York Life executives is a unique and highly effective forum for the exchange of ideas and information.

“As president of the AAC, Kathy is the voice of the agents putting forth their ideas to the company’s top decision makers. New York Life agents value this organized council and it is a testament to Kathy’s talent and skill to be elected to such a position,” said Mary Dean, vice president of New York Life Insurance Company’s Women’s Market Division. “Her experience and expertise are great assets to our team of agents, and we look forward to her tenure as president.”

The AAC is comprised of 24 New York Life agents who have attained a certain level of success called Council level. AAC members are elected by thousands of fellow New York Life Council-level agents. The AAC meets bi-annually, in April and November, to discuss with the company’s management issues that are presented to AAC members by the more than 10,500 New York Life agents throughout the year.

“I am honored to be elected as the new president of the AAC,” said Mrs. Davenport. “The strength of the AAC lies in the two-way dialogue and the dedication of its membership. I look forward to working with fellow agents and executives for a very productive 2009.”

Mrs. Davenport currently serves as the chairperson of New York Life’s West Central Zone’s Women’s Forum, where she and her committee are responsible for executing a program that provides speakers, and offers mentorship opportunities for New York Life women agents and managers.

A New Orleans native, Mrs. Davenport holds certified life underwriter (CLU), chartered financial consultant (ChFC), and accredited estate planner (AEP) professional designations. She is also a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the industry’s premier sales association. Mrs. Davenport is also a member of the company’s Chairman’s Council, comprised of the top three percent of New York Life’s sales force of approximately 10,500 agents.

Mrs. Davenport currently resides in Metairie, Louisiana with her husband, Joe, and two daughters.
