History/Mission
Humanity, along with financial strength and integrity, are the core values upon which New York Life Insurance Company was founded. We believe our obligation to be there for people when they need us extends beyond our day-to-day business. We are equally committed to serving the communities where our employees and agents live and work – it demonstrates who we are as a Company. New York Life strives to be the “Company of the Community,” through the efforts of the Corporate Responsibility Unit and the Foundation.
The Corporate Responsibility Unit, which includes the New York Life Foundation, was established as the philanthropic arm of the Company, providing leadership and support to New York Life agents, employees and retirees who want to make a difference in the lives of others. We make grants to national nonprofits and award grants directed to local nonprofit organizations where members of the New York Life family donate their time and talents.
Corporate Responsibility
Our mission is to demonstrate New York Life’s good corporate citizenship and our commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities where we do business by:
New York Life Foundation
Inspired by New York Life’s tradition of service and humanity, the New York Life Foundation has, since its founding in 1979, provided more than $120 million in charitable contributions to national and local nonprofit organizations. Through its focus on “Nurturing the Children,” the Foundation supports programs that benefit young people, particularly in the areas of mentoring, the establishment of safe places to learn and grow, educational enhancement opportunities and childhood bereavement. The Foundation also encourages and facilitates the community involvement of employees, agents, and retirees of New York Life through its Volunteers for Life program.
