Bharat Yatra VII, 2009 - A Journey To Uttarakhand, India
To qualify for consideration, please write in no more than 500 words, a brief essay on the steps that you believe should be taken to alleviate poverty in India. The brief article must be written in English and must be the original sole work of the entrant. Along with it you must submit a personal statement explaining the reasons why you are participating in the contest, as well as answer some questions on the entry form pertinent to the trip. You must be between ages 18 and 24 to participate, must have gone to college at least for a year and possess a valid passport.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to visit Uttarakhand, India. We'll be having a medical camp for a week along with visits to different places. We will depart from New York City on July 03, 2009 and will return on July 17, 2009. The all-expense-paid trip to Uttarakhand includes national and international transportation, housing and meals. A panel of three judges will evaluate the essays. Decisions of the judges are final and binding. The winners will be announced on or before June 5, 2009 by the news media, as well as by telephone.
Material must be postmarked no later than May 10, 2009.
