Do you volunteer as a board member, mentor, coach, firefighter, troop leader, hospital aide, museum docent or in another capacity?
If so, you may be eligible to apply for a Volunteers for Life – Individual Grant. We annually award more than $100,000 in small grants to grassroots, nonprofit organizations where members of the New York Life family donate their time and talent.
Eligibility
An employee, agent or retiree who has volunteered with a nonprofit organization (501 (c)(3) IRS designation) over a period of at least 12 months for a minimum of 60 hours and is a (n):
- Full-or part-time (20 hours or more weekly) employee with one or more years of continuous service
- Retired employee
- Agent who has been under contract with the Company for a minimum of the prior 12 months, is proactive, and a current Council member
- Lifetime Council member

Grant Amounts
The grant amounts are generally $500. Nonprofit organizations primarily serving the needs of children may receive the maximum of $1,000. Grants are for unrestricted general operating purposes.
Application Procedure
This is a two-part online application process: The New York Life applicant must start the application. Once part one of the application is complete, the nonprofit organization will be asked to complete part two.
Apply online from February 1 - November 15. Grants are processed on a quarterly basis.
