After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, Haas School of Business, New York Life Agent Mitch Rosenberg, CFP®, CLU, ChFC, CPA, MSFS returned home to Southern California and began a career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with Price Waterhouse & Co. As much as he loved his career, however, he felt as if there was something better over the horizon. As it turned out, there was, and Mitch discovered that helping others was more fulfilling for him than crunching numbers.

"I was looking for a better fit career-wise. I wanted better control over my destiny," says Rosenberg, reflecting on what prompted him to join New York Life 23 years ago. “I answered an ad for a ‘financial planner’ and here I am — although it wasn’t an easy transition the first few years. Being a CPA in my past career, I referred to myself as a ‘recovering analytic,’” he laughs. "I also have to thank Frank Nathan, a former New York Life Agent who was my mentor and a legendary agent. Robert Young’s character in Father Knows Best was also patterned after him."

"I think that with today’s economy, it’s very, very important for people to work with advisers and companies they can trust. Which is why I’m proud that my clients can count on me, and I’m proud to be with New York Life,” says Rosenberg.

Once Rosenberg, a Registered Investment Adviser with Eagle Strategies LLC, began solidifying relationships with his clients and other professional advisors, however, his business flourished and he began to enjoy working with people as opposed to figures. "I like the challenge of sitting down with my clients and helping them to figure out where they’re at, and where they want to be. I help them crystallize their objectives with their Personal, Business and Estate planning and help them reach their goals objectives," he states.

"In today’s market, the one certainty is that things will change. People are concerned about not being prepared for the future. Areas that people are very interested in today include help with safe money ideas, protecting their assets and income (through Disability, Long-Term Care and Life Insurance) and having a better investment planning process,” Rosenberg continues.

"I’m a big believer in allowing time to review my clients needs as well as their financial plans from time to time, because again, things can change. In turn, I do my part by educating myself as much as I can and learning new ways to help my clients. I get a lot of ribbing about all the designations after my name," he chuckles. "But truth be told, I believe that knowledge is very important and it demonstrates my commitment to my clients." Mitch has a simple but powerful saying as to how he can make a difference – "We know stuff!"

Additionally, Rosenberg, who resides in Thousand Oaks, California with his wife Melanie and children Ashley, Andy and Paige, has a commitment to his community. For the past five years, his business has sponsored an annual golf tournament to benefit Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Father of three children, he says, “One of my children battled a rare form of cancer. Childrens Hospital was a wonderful place throughout her treatment and I can’t do enough for the organization.” To date, Mitch and his family have helped raise over $100,000 for the Hospital.

When he finds some time for recreation, which isn’t too often (“I’m a multi-tasker,” he says with a grin, “But I’m trying to take it a little easier on myself.”), Rosenberg enjoys golf, tennis, and travel, not to mention helicopter skiing (also known as heli-skiing) of which he’s done in a variety of exotic locations: Russia, New Zealand and Chile.

But what he finds most rewarding, besides spending time with his family, is undoubtedly the satisfaction he gets from assisting his clients in creating a secure plan for their future. “I think that with today’s economy, it’s very, very important for people to work with advisers and companies they can trust,” Rosenberg continues. “Which is why I’m proud that my clients can count on me, and I’m proud to be with New York Life.” In return Rosenberg has been consistently recognized as one of the leading insurance agents in the industry.
