Company's Most Successful College Intern Responsible For Office Win
NEW YORK, N.Y., June 1, 2006 — New York Life Insurance Company announced today that the company's New Orleans General Office, located in New Orleans, Louisiana has emerged as the winner of the Company's annual college intern sales competition. The New Orleans General Office was honored based on the collective first–year commissions produced by all of its college agents over a seven–month period in 2005. More than 50 offices throughout the United States participated in the contest. This year's winner was unique; the New Orleans General Office had only one college agent intern during the contest period, Nick Lama, 25 years old, and he alone is responsible for their victory in the contest.
"We are pleased to recognize the New Orleans General Office for this outstanding accomplishment. It is especially meaningful in light of the hardships the region had to face because of Hurricane Katrina," said Kirsten McKaskle, senior college recruiting consultant, New York Life. "We are also proud to acknowledge the efforts of Nick Lama who, as the college agent intern in this office, brought in the most commissions of any office with agent interns."
Mr. Lama holds the honor of being the most successful intern in the history of the program at New York Life, and he also has the distinction of being the first intern to qualify for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, an exclusive honor achieved only by a small percentage of all life insurance and financial services professionals worldwide. In addition, Mr. Lama was recognized for his outstanding achievements at New York Life's 2005 Executive Council event, which recognizes the top 20 percent of New York Life's elite sales force of over 10,000 licensed agents. He is currently a senior at the University of New Orleans.
The New Orleans General office is located at 639 Loyola Avenue, Suite 1900. Managing Partner, B. Scott Morris, heads the office.
The College Intern Program was launched nationwide in 1998. New York Life Insurance Company considers applications from undergraduate students, as well as graduate students. Students who are accepted receive guidance from their recruiter and hands on training provided by an agent while they undergo formalized classroom training through NYLIC University. As an intern, or college agent, students obtain their life/health license from the state in which they are interning, and are able to begin working with clients.
