John Boma, Corporate Vice President & Manager of Bank Client Group

John joined NYL in 2010 and now heads the consulting and relationship team for The Bank Client Group. Prior to joining New York Life, John was a Partner with Messner Consulting, where he developed Insurance Dedicated Funds and Stable Value Structures for the BOLI industry. He previously was a Senior Vice President for Mullin Consulting; was the executive benefits Practice Leader and Chair of the Policy Board for Scott, Doerschler, Messner and Gauntlett (a National City Corporation company); and was a senior consultant and financial analyst for Management Compensation Group.

He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Accountancy and past Chair of the National Conference on Executive Compensation for the American Institute of CPA’s. He has chaired and served on numerous AICPA and State Society committees and task forces. He has been a speaker at a variety of National and State CPA, Insurance and Executive Benefit conferences, and authored a number of industry articles. He served as a committee Chair for the 2009 PGA Championships held at Hazeltine National Golf Club, and has served as a Director or Advisory Board member for the USTA (Tennis) Boy’s National Championships, Delta Sigma Phi National Fraternity and several Life Insurance companies.

John is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has a Bachelors Degree in Business from the University of Illinois (Urbana), a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University (Bloomington) and a Masters of Taxation from the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities). He resides in Minneapolis with his wife and children.
