We believe that love takes action, so we’re proud of our record of donating over $30 million to LGBTQ+ causes, are steadfast advocates for AIDS research, marriage equality and workplace diversity, and we recently launched the first LGBTQ+ mentor program with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

1987

 We have donated over $30 million to AIDS education, research and development, and grants since 1987.


2005

We extended health and dental benefits to employees in domestic partnerships and supported our first transgender employee who transitioned while on the job.


2008

The New York Life Foundation has donated over $780,000 to LGBTQ+ organizations and causes since 2008.


2011

We started our proud sponsorship of pride events nationally to enable employees to participate in, engage with, and support the LGBTQ+ community.


2013

 We launched “Positive Planning,” a first-of-its-kind program that trains agents to provide insurance and financial strategies catered to the HIV-positive community.


2014

New York Life established full parity benefits for domestic partners including health/medical insurance.


2015

 We joined in an Amicus Brief supporting marriage equality.


2017

New York Life adopted the United Nations LGBTI Standard of Conduct for Business.


2019

We signed onto an Amicus Brief in support of LGBTQ+ workers' rights.


2020

 Launched a first ever LGBTQ+ Mentorship program with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The Aliveness Project was founded as a community center for and driven by people living with HIV and has been helping members lead fulfilling and healthy lives for the past 30 years.

The Family Center (NYC)

The Family Center provides resources for families and offers individual and group support to promote overall health and well-being for people living with HIV.

Gender & Family Project

The Gender & Family Project (GFP) empowers youth, families, and communities by providing gender-affirmative services, training, and research.

Hetrick-Martin Institute

The Hetrick-Martin Institute provides community, basic needs, health, education, and career services to LGBTQ youth.

National LGBT Chamber of Commerce

The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) is the only national advocacy organization dedicated to expanding economic opportunities for the LGBT business community.

OPEN Finance (NYC)
