• Our History.

The New York Life Foundation was founded in 1979 and today oversees the majority of the company’s philanthropic and grantmaking activities.

The Foundation supports programs that benefit young people, primarily in two strategic grantmaking focus areas: childhood bereavement and educational enhancement for middle schoolers. We also facilitate the community involvement of our employees and agents through our robust Volunteers for Good program.

Since its inception, the Foundation has provided more than $250 million in charitable contributions to national and local nonprofit organizations—and our commitment to the communities where we live and work continues to grow steadily year by year.
