Volunteers for Good.
Our agents and employees volunteer thousands of hours each year to help others in need. These efforts are coordinated by the Corporate Responsibility Department through three main programs: our year-round Volunteers for Good program and two annual initiatives—Month of Service and Season of Giving.
Each year we develop and help coordinate hundreds of volunteer projects that offer our employees and agents an opportunity to get involved and make a difference in their communities. We collaborate with hundreds of charitable organizations and help coordinate hundreds of volunteer projects every year to address community needs across the country.
Through our Volunteers for Good initiative we give grants that support the volunteer efforts of teams of New York Life people. Projects like walk-a-thons, park beautifications, soup kitchens, and other group projects can receive up to $10,000 for their nonprofit partner.
Likewise, we give $500 and $1,000 grants that support a variety of local nonprofit organizations where New York Life agents and employees volunteer on a regular basis.
Month of Service.
The Corporate Responsibility Department supports several initiatives by agents and employees that focus on helping grieving children and families.
For example, each September, New York Life employees and agents volunteer at bereavement camps and schools, making comfort items for grieving kids, beautifying camps and classrooms, holding drives for supplies, and raising funds to build on the Foundation’s philanthropic efforts in childhood bereavement and education.
Season of Giving.
Each holiday season, our employees and agents “adopt” senior citizens and families living in public housing, providing gifts and helping with holiday celebrations to brighten the season.
