NEW YORK, May 23, 2016—New York Life has been named one of the 2016 “Best Companies for Multicultural Women” by Working Mother magazine—an honor which recognizes U.S. companies that create and use best practices in hiring, retaining and promoting women of color.

The Working Mother Research Institute has conducted the study since 2003, tracking corporations’ progress in promoting women of color and evaluating their representation at every level of management and decision-making.

“We are proud to be named a Working Mother ‘Best Company for Multicultural Women’ again this year, said Kathleen Navarro, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, New York Life. “We believe that having a diverse and inclusive workplace is not only good for our company, but it is also a competitive strength in the marketplace. Cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace allows us to better serve our clients and makes us a stronger company.”

Subha V. Barry, VP, General Manager, Working Mother Media, said, “Now is the time for women and women of color to emerge. The progress that has been made among top earners this year—with the representation of multicultural women quadrupling—is astounding, and reflects that companies who put resources behind growing their multicultural talent will get a big return.”
