NEW YORK, January 16, 2019 – New York Life Insurance Company announced that Robert F. Friel has joined its Board of Directors, effective as of January 1, 2019. Mr. Friel is the chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader in diagnostic and life sciences testing solutions.

Prior to his appointment to chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, Mr. Friel served in roles of increasing responsibility that included chief operating officer, president of PerkinElmer’s Life and Analytical Sciences division, and chief financial officer.

Previous to joining PerkinElmer in 1999, Mr. Friel held several finance-focused senior management positions with AlliedSignal, Inc., now Honeywell International.

Mr. Friel currently serves on the Board of Directors of NuVasive, Inc. and Xylem Inc. He holds a Master of Science degree in taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Lafayette College.
