Craig DeSanto, Senior Vice President, Strategic Insurance Businesses
Craig is currently responsible for overseeing New York Life’s Strategic Insurance Businesses. This includes New York Life Direct, the company’s Group Membership Association and Worksite businesses, the Advanced Markets Network including the institutional insurance business, Long Term Care Insurance, and the Institutional Annuities business. Collectively, these businesses represent over a third of New York Life’s earnings. In addition, Craig oversees New York Life’s corporate venture group, New York Life Ventures, and the company’s corporate innovation program.
Craig began his career at New York Life in 1997 as an actuarial summer intern. He returned the following year full time, and has assumed numerous roles of increasing responsibility. Prior to his current role, Craig was responsible for overseeing New York Life’s Individual Life insurance business. His previous responsibilities include heading the Affluent Market growth initiative and Eagle Strategies (New York Life’s Registered Investment Advisor), managing the company’s institutional insurance business, and holding numerous product development and financial management roles across the Individual Life and Annuities businesses.
Craig is a member of New York Life’s Executive Management Committee.
Craig has a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is CEO and Chairman of the Board of New York Life Insurance Company of Arizona, and is also a Board member of LIMRA/LOMA. Craig previously served on the ACLI Life Committee and is a former Board member of Life Happens.
