Natural disaster victims face losses of many kinds.


Heather Nesle, President of the New York Life Foundation, recently co-wrote an article for with David Schonfeld, director of the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement, about how the recent spate of natural disasters may have affected insurers’ client base in intangible and unexpected ways.

They provide suggestions as to how insurers can become even more valuable to those who are struggling with grief in the aftermath of a disaster by offering support, and can help clients mitigate the long-term effects of grief that are often overlooked by directing them to bereavement resources available in their area.
