Our Internal Mobility Program wraps up a successful first year.

Since its inception last fall, New York Life’s Internal Mobility program has helped those interested in proactively guiding their own career paths by providing general career counseling, as well as targeted resume and interviewing skills coaching. Our internal mobility page on the Company’s internal collaboration and communication platform has made it easy for employees to take advantage of the full range of mobility resources at their disposal. Looking back at the first year of the program it’s clear that it’s off to a winning start.

There have been over 400 inquiries into the Internal Mobility program, which has led to 52 participants being hired into new roles as of October 1, 2018. Thirty-eight  development workshops have taken place—focused on either resume writing or interview skills—in which approximately 227 employees have participated. Additionally, the program offers individual coaching sessions on those same topics as well as others, such as career development. There have been 436 individual coaching sessions on various topics

Our Internal Mobility program enables our employees to not only enhance their existing skills but learn new ones. “The great thing about the program is it really empowers employees to take control of their careers,” says Michael Carrano, Internal Mobility recruiter. “The program recognizes employees’ talent and helps them achieve their career goals.” Another plus is the realization among employees that every constructive move does not have to be an immediate promotion. Lateral moves can develop skills and experience that may ultimately lead to a promotion down the road.

This program is voluntary and confidential for those employees who have worked at the company for at least one year in a full-time role and are in good standing. Employees may sign up themselves for training or counseling, or they may be recommended for the program by HR Business Partners, managers, or recruiters.
