New York Life would like to congratulate Lucille Protas, President and COO of MacKay Shields, who was recently named one of the 2019 Top Women in Asset Management by Money Management Executive –recognizing women who have made a significant impact in the asset management industry.

Lucille’s tireless leadership and insights have been instrumental in helping to shape MacKay Shields, guiding the business in its growth from a 50-person, equity-oriented asset manager in the mid-1980s to a fixed income, equity and alternative global manager with more than $112 billion in AUM, four offices and 200 employees. Her deep knowledge of the industry, built over four decades and fueled by her constant drive to increase her knowledge and expertise, is an invaluable asset to the firm.

Lucille is deeply passionate about giving back to her community and is an active board member in the Make-A-Wish organization. She has been a long-time champion of supporting women in the field of finance and investing, initiating and leading several mentorship programs including: Girls with Goals, Women in Investment Management, Women in Research, and Power in Mentoring. She also recently helped establish The Women’s Initiative–Investments, a new employee resource group at New York Life that empowers women in investments to achieve their full potential.

Congratulations to Lucille on the well-deserved award.
