That’s a wrap! Recapping our 10th Anniversary NYC Pride march.
Our 10th anniversary at the NYC Pride march was another smashing success. In 2008 we began with 20 marchers, 10 years later well over 100 New York Life employees and their loved ones marched along with our official float to display our support of the LGBT community and diversity & inclusion at our company.
The pride parade is the centerpiece celebration that follows a month of LGBT Pride-related activities at our Home Office and across the country. While this year’s parade drew over 2,000,000 participants it might be considered a warm-up for next year’s 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising which is sure to break all attendance records at the Pride March and hopefully our own records as well.
Whether an ally or out and proud, the type of unified support exemplified by the Pride March continues to be an important part of the effort to achieve equality for the LGBT community. Despite triumphs such as marriage equality, the struggle continues on many fronts, and so public support is critical to achieving civil rights and recognition for all.
