Interested in a career where you can help others live with security and dignity?

Jayshree Patel

Jayshree Patel, Agent, Greater Chicago General Office

Jayshree Patel has been a Financial Professional with New York Life Insurance Company since 1997. Throughout her entire career, she has focused on helping her clients protect their dreams and economic futures. In 2012, Jayshree was named New York Life’s 2012 Council President, the highest honor a New York Life Agent can receive and which can be earned only once during an Agent’s career. In addition, she consistently ranks among New York Life’s highest-achieving Agents.

Success didn’t come overnight. Growing up in a small town in India with her widowed mother and four sisters, financial security and certainty were scarce. The absence of her father, the main breadwinner in the household, had a tremendous impact on the family, teaching Jayshree the importance of being financially prepared.

She married her husband, Nilam, in 1990 at age 18, and three years later they moved to Chicago. Transitioning to a new country and language took time and hard work. Working in the family’s grocery/video store helped her to make the adjustment while expanding her language skills.

Nilam joined New York Life in 1994, and after the birth of their second child in 1998, Jayshree decided to join him. Today, she and Nilam are business partners as well and have more than 3,000 clients.

As an Agent, Jayshree works to ensure her clients leave a legacy for their loved ones, so they can live with security and dignity. Jayshree’s practice focuses on estate conservation and financial strategies in the areas of survivor needs, supplemental retirement income and college funding, utilizing life insurance and other financial products. “The majority of my clients are small business owners who are first generation immigrants and have worked extremely hard to earn their money. The work that I do with them will help the next generation work with money, rather than for it,” she says. “I love what I do, offering long-term security to clients and their families—now and for many years to come.” To learn more about how you can love what you do click here.
