Though holidays like Mother's Day and Father's Day are reasons for celebration for many, for others, they can serve as a poignant reminder of loss. Grief is one of those issues that’s too often spoken about in hushed tones or pushed to the side — especially when it comes to children.

The New York Life Foundation focuses on helping children who are experiencing grief. To help families and educators assist those children who might find all the attention on these holidays to be painful, the Foundation partners with bereavement experts, such as Irwin Sandler, to provide tips on how best to support grieving children these holidays.
