Learning and Development

When each person excels and succeeds, the team gets stronger. That’s the philosophy behind New York Life’s approach to learning and development. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or new to our business, we believe that everyone can learn and experience more. Bring your ambition and initiative. We’ll help you get what you need to grow.

You’re a leader

Some believe that leaders are born, not created. We disagree. We think that everyone has the potential to lead, whether that means leading others, leading yourself or influencing those around you. That’s why employees are expected to demonstrate leadership in their roles, regardless of whether they manage people or not. The company offers classroom and online opportunities to practice and hone this key skill.

Career Development programs

The company offers the following development tracks for people according to their career stage:

Early Career

When you’re just beginning your career, you want to hit the ground running. The Early Career program helps you do just that, with a combination of classroom coursework and rotational assignments.

Mid-Career

Your core skills are solid but now your career may require the added dimensions of strategic thinking, strategic planning or managing others. The Mid-Career program offers two certificate programs for managers, as well as nomination-based leadership programs designed to help you solve business challenges and apply your skills in new ways.

Established

At this level, you’re probably refining your leadership skills and management techniques. In the Established Career program, you’ll have access to advanced classroom courses with your peers and professional coaching.

Executives

Now at the top of your game, development comes in the form of new, challenging leadership assignments. But you can also gain something from one-on-one coaching, 360-degree feedback from peers, direct reports and managers and special coursework designed just for you. They’re all part of the Executive Officer program.

Educational Assistance

We believe an education can be your most important investment. That’s why we offer financial assistance to help you complete your bachelor’s or master’s degree. While there are some eligibility requirements that must be met first, you’ve got a partner to help unlock your potential.
