Executive Vice President & Co-Head of the Foundational Business
Mark Madgett is executive vice president & co-head of the Foundational Business. He is specifically responsible for New York Life’s career Agency distribution system, which comprises more than 12,000 agents affiliated with 115 General Offices across the country, as well as many of the business units that provide strategy and support for the company’s agents and field managers. He was appointed to New York Life’s Executive Management Committee in December 2015.
Mr. Madgett joined New York Life as an agent in 1986. He entered management in 1992 and became managing partner of the Seattle General Office in 1998. Under his leadership, the Seattle General Office became one of the strongest agencies in the company and a perpetual leader in agent retention, among other areas. As a managing partner, Mr. Madgett was widely acknowledged as a leader among his peers and was twice elected to serve as chair of the Managing Partners Advisory Council. He is a lifetime member of the Partner’s Round Table. Mr. Madgett joined the Home Office leadership team and was named senior vice president in September 2014. He assumed leadership of the Agency Department in January 2016.
Mr. Madgett serves on the National Board of After-School All-Stars, which supports students in developing skills and habits needed to succeed in life, school, and future careers. He also serves on the board of St. Mary’s College in California, where he earned a degree in business.
